Currently experiencing an issue with Acrobat Reader DC.

When opening documents that have been digitally signed or have a digital signature block, Acrobat Reader DC will open but with the below error:

"There was an error opening this document. Failed to load an application resource (internal error)"

In order to view the document I have to click "OK" to close the error then reopen it again.

Working on Windows 10/Surface Pro 4 with Acrobat Reader DC (Ver 17.009.20044)

Been on the Google for a good bit, but not finding anything relevant.  Any assistance greatly appreciated.

    Dear Oneshot,

Thank you for reporting the issue. It seems Reader has not been correctly installed on your machine. We usually face such an error due to bad installation.

Please go to Help -> Repair Installation

Restart your machine and try opening the document again

Please let me know if the issue persists

I get this, in my case it's related to some accessibility issue. My fix was to rename accessibility.api, makeaccesible.api and readoutloud.api to something like accessibility old.api.

Each time Reader updates, I have to do this again.

    Hello Anybody.

Is there a resolution for this? i am running Acrobat DC (18.011.20040). Tried Help/Repair. Tried re-install. No fix.

Haven't found any online resolution that works.

And I would like to note a couple more things about my experience of the error. This appears to happen on all pdfs that I open including a pdf of a power point presentation that I created. Once I have opened and clicked through the error message a bunch of times, Acrobat appears to function correctly. I can close and re-open the document without error and can open other documents.

Did this ever get a resolution?  The repair install doesn't appear to work and the same issue occurs with brand new installs.  We are using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC 2017.012.20098 and like the original poster, the issue only appears to occur with documents having the digital signature block.
