Acrobat Reader DC updater runs daily and interrupts work

Hello,

I currently have Acrobat Reader DC installed on my Macbook Air.  Sadly, the updater tries to run daily and freezes up whatever I am working on.  Have tried to disable the updater but that option does not appear to exist on my Acrobat Reader DC.  Any suggestions to guide me out of this quagmire would be most appreciated!
