Acrobat Reader DC with Windows 10 Home edition

I have not been able to use Adobe Reader for two weeks since my OS ran an update.   I've searched all over for a solution to this, incorporating those on these forums that I can try, but they don't work.  Let me be clear, when I double click on the reader icon, NOTHING HAPPENS.  It doesn't open and then close, it doesn't crash, it's doesn't allow me to go to preferences - nothing.  WHen I go to task manager, it shows reader 32 open in the background.  I need this program to run.  Please help me...
