I have a MS Surface about a year old. The OS is up to date. It has ample RAM and data space. I uninstelled and reinstalled Reader DC and yet the problem remains: The app opens and promptly closes the PDF. Reboot did nto fix it.  Is it becuase I prompltly unisntalled the Macafee bloatware that came with Reader DC?

Hi Nickie

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble. As described the application is closing instantly even after you removed the application and reinstalled it.

Is this a behavior with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try to open a different PDF file and check.

What is the version of the Adobe Acrobat Reader DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the latest version installed. Go to Help > Check for Updates.

Please try to turn off the protected mode for testing (Windows Only) and see if that helps. Go to Edit > Preferences > Enhanced Security  > Uncheck 'Enable protected mode at startup' Turn off the protected mode and uncheck Enhanced Security > Click OK and reboot the computer

Note: Please turn on the security after testing to avoid security risks.

If it still doesn't work please create a new test user profile in Windows and try using the application there and check.

You may also look at the steps in the help page https://helpx.adobe.com/in/acrobat/kb/acrobat-dc-crashes-on-windows-os.html

Regards

Amal
