Acrobat Reader Has a Very Annoying Bug

I have created a PDF with 5 attachments. All Attachments are regular PDF files. 

PDF files were created using 3rd party component.

If I open PDF width Adobe Reader all attachments are listed. The thing is that 2 of those 5 file attachments do not want to be displayed or saved. Acrobat Reader does not message anything. Just does nothing.

 

Then I created another PDF file and attached those two "problematic" PDF files.

It works like a breeze.

It appears there is a bug in Adobe Reader. I am using the latest version as of today.

 

The thing is that Foxit and Nitro have no problems whatsoever to display all attachments correctly.

    May well be that the third party component is creating borderline faulty PDFs. This sort of thing happens a lot, and it's easy to assume that the software that trips over the fault is itself faulty. I don't suppose you can share this problem file publicly, but if you can create a sample file with the same problem, you can upload it here and someone may take a look. Overall, though, your time may be better spent working with the support for the 3rd party component.

    Thanks for the suggestion. I will create an example and post it here 🙂

    However, even before chatGPT technologies were born it was a good practice to respond with some info/action if input data does not comply with a host's standards. Acrobat Reader in this case. Saying nothing is just not good enough. For sure there is a reason why Adore Reader does not react when a file attachment is clicked. Right-click shows the enabled context menu. But no action after a click. Popping out a message to indicate the reason is hygienic minimum in this case. Asking third-party development to explain why Adobe Reader has problems does not seem the right approach. However, it could be the last resource to try out 🙂
