    Hello Andreash,

We're sorry for the inconvenience caused with Adobe Reader, please reboot the machine once and try resetting the Adobe Reader Preferences once. To reset the Preferences, refer to the article How to reset Acrobat Preference settings to default.

Reboot the machine after resetting the Preferences and check.

If the issue persists, use Acrobat cleaner tool to remove any corrupt or conflicting files of Adobe Reader Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

Reboot the machine again and install the Adobe Reader from Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution

If you still experience any issue, please enable the root account or create a test user profile with full admin rights and install Adobe Reader and check. How to enable the root user on your Mac or change your root password - Apple Support

Let us know how it goes and share your findings.

    Thanks,

    Anand Sri.

    Hello Anand Sri

Thank you for your instructions to solve my problem - but: it didn't work and I might cry!

I reset Adobe preference settings - did not help.

I used the Adobe AcrobatReader cleaning tool and reinstalled Acrobat Reader's appropriate version - did not help.

I changed to root user and installed AcrobatReader there - here the application works! But going back to my normal user (which is also the administrator), AcrobatReader immediately closes down again when starting, producing the notice "Acrobat Reader was closed down unexpectedly".

So what does it help, if Acrobat Reader runs on the root user, but not on the normal user?

There still must be something wrong with preference settings or ... but what!?

    Regards

    Hello Andreash,

Thank you for sharing the details and sorry for the trouble. If Adobe Reader is working in the root user and not in the normal user profile, then the issue is related  to the user profile.

Check for any updates related to the OS and install it. Or you might have to contact the Apple support team for any repair related to the user profile Official Apple Support

    Thanks,

    Anand Sri.
