Question

Acrobat Reader not responding after trying to open a file

I have used my Acrobat Reader so much that I paid to be able to convert documents.  I have used it since I bought the subscription.  But in the last two weeks, any time I try to open a file, even ones I have opened before, the reader freezes up and I have to end it through the task manager.  I have been through forum after forum, restarted it, uninstalled, reinstalled, repair installation, reverted back to a previous version, and adjust so many settings recommended by Adobe employees in other forums, and nothing has fixed this issue.  I called the tech line and was told that they do not offer phone support for this problem, even though I paid to use aspects of the program.  I am upset and frustrated and want a fix to this problem.

    Hi Jenniferg,

I apologize for the inconvenience caused. The Acrobat Reader is a free application of Adobe So the support option is limited to the forums only.

You are subscribed to Adobe PDF pack, through which you can easily create, combine, sign, and send PDF files online. You can also convert PDF files into editable Word or Excel files. You cannot edit PDF files with Adobe PDF Pack. You need Acrobat DC to edit PDF files. See Acrobat product page.

You can use the free desktop version of Reader to use the services of Adobe PDF Pack.

As you mentioned that the Reader is crashing while opening any PDF file, please follow the KB link for the troubleshooting steps: Resolve Acrobat DC intermittent crashes on Windows  Link: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-dc-crashes-on-windows-os.html

If the issue still persists, please create/enable the Hidden Administrator user account on your computer and try working on Adobe Reader there.

If it works without any trouble in the another Administrator account then there could be a problem with the existing user account.

Please try, and let us know the result.

    Regards,

    Anand Sri.
