Acrobat Reader/PDFs won't open

All of a sudden when I try to open acrobat reader, the logo just bounces but won't open. When I try to open PDFs on my desktop or download a PDF from my browser and save to desktop, it doesn't work. Do I need to update AR? How do I do that if I cannot open the application? Any help is welcome. I am on Mac.

I ended up uninstalling Adobe Acrobat and installing PDF Gear instead.

I'm having the same problem. I cannot open any pdfs by double-clicking them. If I open the Adobe Acrobat Reader blank and then try to double-click a pdf, it opens in the app. But it's very annoying I cannot just double-clik to open a pdf; I have set Adobe Acrobat to be my default app for .pdf files. I am thinking of removing Adobe Acrobat and installing Foxit PDF Reader, but it seems stupid when I am subscribing to "Adobe All Apps".
