ACROBAT READER STOPS WORKING WHEN TRYING TO PRINT PDF

I have AR DC  #20.006.20042 when i try to Print a PDF file I get message AR jas stopped working and checking for solution. I( tried to paste the message but would not work---standard program has stopped working message.)    No Solution.

I recently upgraded PC to Windows 10 from Windows 7.  AR DC worked/printed fine in Windows 7.

When I first got this message I ran Windows 10 repair program on it.  NO Success

Since then I have ran compabilty to Windoes 7 and 8  No Success

I have ran check for updates and installed them.  No Success

I have rebooted bumerous times.  No Success

I have NOT Unisstalled and started over.

I also got this message it has stopped working when it tried to generate a list--I think this option was in the compatibilty option dialogue box.

I have read and tried the items/steps in other postings on this subject/issue but they are approx. 3 year old and thinking things have chaged since and/or I missed something.

Can some one please help me.

Where did you downloaded this Adobe Reader DC from?

The original install of AR DC was done about 3 years ago. I do not remember from where. Updates have beem done automatically numerous times.  In the last couple weeks a few times through Windows 10 links and also through Adobe website and Adobe Properties dialogue.

If this upgrade from MS Windows 7 to Windows 10 was done on top of the older version of Windows it is common to experience certain issues.

 

Windows 10 has changed quite a bit the directory structure of the operating system itself, meaning that it may not be able to find the printing device drivers in the same location(s) where they used to be installed in Windows 7 for example. This, however, is just an assumption from quickly reading your thread above. I may be wrong though.

 

But let's say that is the case, here are a few ideas:

 

  • Download the most current printer driver, and firmware driver from the printing device manufaturer website. Manually upddate your printing software and drivers. Do not let MS Windows perform its own automatic update for your device and follow the recommended installation and configuration guidance form the printing device vendor.
  • Manually check for updates to your Windows 10. Depending on the  type of WIndows 10 version that you have upgraded to there are certain features that may not be present. One prime examle is the Home edition. To be certain that you have the latest windows 10 see here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
  • In that link above you can upgrade to MS Windows 10 latest version and optional use the free media creation tool so you have a full bootable installation software of your version. 
  • For the Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, there's no need to run in compatibility mode because you have the latest version. What is probably happening is that the old software was not properly removed nor completely removed from your machine. 
  • To completely remove old traces of your Acrobat software use the Adobe Acrobat Cleanup and Repair Tool, which you may download here: https://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html  This  will completely remove old entries and possibly repair corrupted directory entries leaving your system ready to accept a fresh installation of Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.
  • After the cleanup and repair process completes, download Adobe Acrobat Reader DC from the official link here: https://get.adobe.com/reader/ 
  • To perform or apply subsequent future updates of Acrobat Reader you'll have better control if you disable automatic updates and manually check for updates. If this is a practice that interests you , always click on "Help" --->>> "Check for updates", OR, go to the relase notes page and manually download and install updates yourself (that's how I keep my system up to date, I don't trust automatic unattended updates).
