Acrobat Reader update install failed

I have been trying to install an update of Acrobat Reader and i keep getting a message Install Failed.  No error code or any other message.  I am still using windows 7 and i have tried the update on all browsers-will not work.  I keep getting a message that the update is ready to install-it just doesn't do it.  Any help will be appreciated, thank you.
