Acrobat Reader Win 10 1709 - Protected Mode?

After updating to windows 10 version 1709, I have been unable to start Acrobat Reader DC. I have uninstalled and reinstalled a number of times and each time upon starting I receive the below message. The if I choose either of the first two options I receive the "Fatal Error - Acrobat failed to load its Core DLL" message. I then continue to receive this fatal error message every time I attempt to start Reader until I uninstall and re-install again.:
