Question

Acrobat Showing Black Boxes Instead of Comments on Blueprints

Hello Adobe Community,

I run a print shop and have recently started experiencing an issue with Adobe Acrobat. For the past two weeks, whenever I open blueprint files from customers—most likely created in AutoCAD with comments added—Acrobat displays the comments as large black boxes all over the document.

This problem only started recently. I have the latest version of Acrobat installed. I've tried disabling the “Show Comments” option in Preferences, but after restarting the computer, the setting resets and the option is enabled again.

This issue is affecting my work, and I would really appreciate any help or guidance you can provide.

Thank you in advance!

Hi @Print28442294ky6k,

Hope you are doing well. Sorry for your experience working on AutoCAD files with Acrobat.

Would you mind trying out the steps below and let us know if it helps:

1. Close Acrobat if its already open
2. Open registry editor
3. Traverse to the path: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\DC
4. Create a new key with the name FeatureLockDown
5. Inside this key create a new DWORD(32-bit) with the name bReplaceOnKeyDown and set its Value to 0
6.Close the Registry Editor and relaunch Acrobat

Let us know how it goes.

Regards,
Souvik.
