Question

Adding additional software into Adobe Reader download (by default) is unprofessional

Adobe,

For over a decade I've enjoyed your products. I've purchased them over competitors because I thought I could rely on your professional commitment to consumers. When I went to download Adobe Reader, despite the many alternatives, I was horrified to discover that you, by default, include additional software. I'm assuming you profit by helping proliferate this software onto your customer's computers. For me, this is a huge black mark on your business model. You're one step closer to totallyfreesoftwares.com.net.

    Hey Jon,

We understand your security concern, but Adobe Reader/Acrobat doesn't add any in your system. Which software you are referring here? Is it some internet security software?

If yes, then its an optional choice for you, while installing Reader/Acrobat you can simply uncheck it. The intention is not to harm your system, its purpose is to provide protection from malicious activity.

Your feedback is highly important for us and we always welcome your suggestions. You may use this form to request new features or suggest modifications to existing features: Feature Request/Bug Report Form

    Thanks,

    Akanchha

My guess is they're talking about these "optional offers":

However, as far as I know they are not selected by default, and of course they are completely safe (although maybe unwanted by most).
