Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Lags When PC Resumes From Inactivity

Hi,

Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Lags when there are multiple tabs opened in the same Adobe Reader window. The issue is replicable when you have two tabs opened in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC and the computer is inactive for 5 minutes. When moving the mouse again after those 5 minutes, it lags out and memory and cpu usage sky rockets. The lag goes away after 30 seconds. I have found that turning off the setting "Open documents as new tabs in the same window" makes the lag issue go away. However, why does the issue happen in the first place and why can't I have multiple tabs without experiencing the lag? Is there something else I can do? Is this a known issue?

    Hello Ahsitguy,

Sorry for the delay in response to your query and apologize for the inconvenience caused. As per the description above, the Reader DC is freezing when you open multiple PDFs, Is that correct?

Please check for any pending updates from Help>Check for updates.

You can also try to reset the preferences of Reader, to reset the preferences, refer to How to reset Acrobat Preference settings to default. Link: https://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-8511

If the issue persists, please share the following details:

    1. Dot version of Reader installed, check from Help>About Reader.
    2. Is it Mac or Windows machine?
    3. Is it happening with one PDF files or with all PDF files?

Hope this helps, and let us know how it goes.

    Regards,

    Anand Sri.
