Could you please confirm the exact version of Acrobat and OS you are working with?

If it still doesn't work, then 

Run this cleaner tool to remove the existing installer and application’s file traces:

Download the Acrobat Reader installer from here:

https://helpx.adobe.com/reader/get-started.html

The cleaner tool thing worked! I called a support phone number, that was emailed to me and got that help there!
