Adobe Acrobat Reader upgrades automatically to Adobe Acrobat Pro

Dear Community,

we have used Adobe Acrobat Reader in our Server (Windows Server 2019 Standard) for years. Since 1 week, Adobe Acrobat Reader updates automatically to Adobe Acrobat Pro and wants a password / licence (that we do not have). Uninstalling / installing does not help - Reader updates itself, even when we disable the updates. Does anyone have solution?

Perhaps ONE user of the server has a license to Acrobat or Creative Cloud. In this case, everyone would now need a matching license.

Dear Test Screen Name,

 

thanks for Your reply. Yes, we recently obtained a licence to Adobe Creative Cloud for one colleague.. What does it have to do with the other colleagues? (ca. 60 people). They do not need Crative Cloud for ther work and we cannot afford a license for everyone.

This has everything to do with the other colleagues.

Adobe used to have Acrobat Reader and Acrobat Pro as entirely separate products. Recently they changed this so there is only one product. The product installs as Reader. If it is run by a user who has an Acrobat license, the app runs as Acrobat. Or rather, the app converts to Acrobat, installing the many extra system components that Acrobat gives. Once converted to Acrobat, it will no longer run as Reader, and will require a license to run as Acrobat. 

 

So, Adobe changed this, and now expect each of your 60 users to have an Acrobat or CC license. I don't say this is a good thing.

Hope you are doing well. Sorry for the trouble with Acrobat Reader.

 

You may want to re-check if auto-updates are disabled from the customization wizard. For further information, please refer to the given link: Basic Configuration — Deployment Planning and Configuration
