Adobe Acrobat resets preferences when closed

Hello,
Adobe resets all the preferences when restarted. For example I set up the comments pane to not open when comments are present but the next document opened the comments pane opens and the setting to changed back to ticked off.
I tried to reistall the latest version.
I am on windows 11, Adobe standard version
it's huge problem because comments cause CPU usage and bugs
