Adobe acrobate reader dc won't open

From the Icon that was installed on my desktop I double click it and I get and error message stating "windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file.  you may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item"

I have uninstall and reinstalled.  I have run the clean up tool recommended.  I can open by doing a right click an saying to open as administrator and it will open.  I don't understand why I have to do this because I have administrator privileges in my user profile.

Adobe reader is my default program for pdf files.  when trying to open them in Edge I get the same error message.

What is the problem???

    Hi Rds,

Sorry for the delay in response.

It seems not be the application related issue as it displays the Windows error message.

Please try the troubleshooting steps mentioned here https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/2669244/-windows-cannot-access-the-specified-device--path--or-file-error-when

    Check if that helps.

Let us know if you still experience the issue.

    Regards,

    Meenakshi
