Adobe DC performance

Adobe Acrobat Reader DC is running very slow opening up PDF files. I'm using an Intel Core i5 processor with 16GB's of RAM and a Windows 10 OS. I have already tried a lot of the suggestions posted on the forum but nothings worked so far.

I have tried the below..

Reinstalling the latest version.

Open Reader's preferences and go to the "General" category. Uncheck the two "Show online storage..." options. This will not connect to Adobe's "Document Cloud" when you try to open a document.

Open Reader's preferences and go to the "Documents" category. Set the number of files in the recently used list to 1 (this will remove all your files that you have recently used from that list). If this fixes your problem, then there may be something wrong with one of the files that you've recently used (e.g. a network drive no longer being available).

Open Reader's preferences and go to the "Security (Enhanced)" category and set "Protected View" to "Off" and uncheck "Enable Enhanced Security".

Enable Protected Mode at Startup - disabled

    Application uninstalled using the adobeAcroCleaner

Application re-installed as latest version (19.010.20064) from website

Everything started out fine but then by mid day the issue had returned.

Issue is for local or network stored documents, of varying size too (we have a test 1 pager and a 15 pager).

    Hello Systemm,

We're sorry for the trouble you had with Adobe Reader, what is the version of Adobe Reader installed? To identify the version, refer to Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC

Are you facing this issue with all the PDF files or with one specific file? Are these files saved locally or on a network drive or on an external drive?

For testing purpose only, please navigate to Adobe Reader's Preferences and disable 'Enable Protected Mode at Startup' and 'Enhanced Security'>click OK and check.

Note: Disabling Protected Mode and Enhanced Security is only for testing purpose, please enable it back.

Make sure that you have the latest version of Adobe Reader installed, check for any pending updates from help>check for updates, reboot the machine and check.

For testing purpose, create a test user profile with full admin rights and install Adobe Reader and check.

Let us know how it goes and share your observation.

    Thanks,

    Anand Sri.
