Adobe Flash Update user name

I am trying to install the latest version of adobe flash player on my Mac (OSX 10.9.5, Safari 9.1.3).  When I click to install, it begins the installation and then a box appears asking for my user name and password.  Except, there is a name already in the user name space (that happens to be my first name).  It won't let me put in my actual user name in that space along with my password, it rejects it.  This happens every time. I have double checked and Adobe recognizes my user name and password in other situations.  So, I am stuck--unable to download the latest version.  Many things that I am trying to download require the latest version so this is a real problem.

This is not the Flash Player forum. But I think I understand your problem so I'll reply anyway.

When you install software you are often asked for a password. It isn't your Adobe ID. It's your own system password you need, the one that you chose when you first switched on your computer. The password prompt is standard so you should always recognise it: make sure you do, so you aren't tricked into giving up your password to malware.
