Adobe PDF Reader ActiveX control stays gray

Hi there,

our vba msaccess uses an 'Adobe PDF Reader' ActiveX control using latest Acrobat reader DC to display PDF's.

This has always worked, but now om some computers instead of pdf showing up, the control is gray.

On the computers it doesn't work on, IE11 shows a gray page instead of PDF also.

 

Perhaps anybody simmular problems or solutions?

more info:

-it's paid acrobat and non-paid reader on windows server. (this setup worked before). 

-adobe pdf reader activex control, does display correctly when the paid version has a key, if no key entered (unlicensed) the control thus displays gray.

-both 32 bit msaccess, 32bit c# have this problem.
