Adobe Pro - no updates available but warning message says form requires newer version

I prepare taxes and have always used adobe pro to created and submit taxes using the IRS on-line service.

When I open the document (s), I get repeated window warnings stating that the PDF form requires a newer version of Adobe Acrobat or it may not work properly.  I tried checking for updates (none available) and even deleting other versions of reader DC  that i had, but I continue to get the error message. I have set to ignore but that is not solving the issue as I cannot save the tax forms I am using. What can I do to troubleshoot this? Is there other updates that are needed that are not captured by going to menu->help->check for updates??
