Adobe Reader 64 bit?

I keep getting warnings that Adobe Reader (I am using 9.5.5 which claims to be the latest version) will not work with future versions of MacOS (I am using 10.14.5). So will Adobe upgrade Reader to 64 bit? If so, when? If not, can anyone recommend an appropriate alternative?

Version 9 is very old. Use Acrobat Reader DC.

Reader 9 was replaced by Reader 10, nine years ago. Reader 10 was replaced by Reader 11, back in 2012. And Reader 11 reached end of life.

It's important to recognise the difference between updates and upgrades. Reader 9 has no more UPDATES (changes to the app). But the UPGRADE to a new app happened in 2010. You'll need to track the difference between updates and upgrades if you intend to upgrade to Mac OS 10.15 when it comes out.
