Salesmen, by the way, are not experts on computers, clouds, or Amazon stuff. They are experts on selling stuff.

How about thinking of it this way. Here I am, sitting at a Windows computer. Suppose you could get a picture of what was happening on my screen, on your tablet. Would look like you were running Windows.

Now, suppose you could add a mouse and keyboard to your tablet, and they magically worked my computer. So you can type on your keyboard, my computer shows it on screen, and you now see it on the tablet. Might feel like you're running Windows, but you're not - I am. You would have like a remote control of my computer.

No Windows computer? Amazon will sell you a pretend one, all your own, out on the internet, for $25 a month.

Basically, if you can't get your head around these technical aspects - and who you'd need to keep paying, and how much, and what sort of internet you'd need - run away! There are much better ways to run Windows than this!

That's my reading of the review. They run on someone else's Windows.

Certainly the Android Reader is painfully limited for some reason. But the Windows thing... I hadn't heard of this. So far as I can see the Dex runs a "virtualised client" Windows which means it doesn't run Windows at all, but lets you see Windows running on ANOTHER computer. So, it allows you to run Windows on am Amazon cloud server, which you see on screen. This may work very well if you have full time, very very fast, internet, and basic needs. A reviewer writes "The Amazon app allows you to run full screen, which makes it feel like you're running Windows. A casual passer-by would never know. Not unless they used it, upon which time they would detect the abysmal lag and know something was up."
