Adobe Reader DC

Most resent upgrade to Adobe Reader DC broke the ARROW KEY NAVIGATION.  Until very recently, user was able to use UP ARROW and DOWN ARROW to move a page at a time.  Something changed, because now the arrow keys do not work for navigation.  PG UP and PG DN do, but the arrow do not.  Before you say, "Use the Page Up and Page Down" the keyboard layout for the laptop has the page up and page down keys tied to the FN key to get secondary function (IE: in order to get the page up and page down keys to work, it requires pressing 2 keys)

Would like to know what needs done to restore Arrow Keys navigation functionality.

Thanks

Hey Johnh,

We apologize for the delay in response. Hoping that you might have got this issue resolved by now? If you are still struggling with the page navigation issue, then you may perform the steps suggested below-

Adobe Reader DC broke the ARROW KEY NAVIGATION.  Until very recently, user was able to use UP ARROW and DOWN ARROW to move a page at a time.

1- Are you referring to the keyboard Up and Down arrows or Reader's page controls arrows available in the top menu bar?

If its a keyboard one, then you may check is that's working with any other tool or not?  If its a Reader's one then you may follow these steps-

  • Check with a different PDF than the one you are working.
  • Install the latest patch of Adobe Reader>Reboot Reader>Open document and check back. DC Release Notes — Release Notes for Acrobat DC Products
  • It could be Reader's security preferences that's causing trouble: Navigate to Reader>Edit>Preferences>Security (Enhanced)>disable "Protected Mode at Startup" and "Enhanced Security">OK>Reboot Reader and check again.

Note: Changing the above security settings could pose security risks. We suggest you to turn it back On once you are done with testing.

If you have managed to find the solution, then please do share your findings.

Thanks,

Akanchha
