Adobe Reader DC crashes on open

Hello,

I'm using the most recent version of Adobe Reader DC.

When I try to open a file, I get the message "Adobe Acrobat Reader has stopped working".

This happens whether I'm just trying to open Reader or if I double click on a file.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I have tried repairing.

What else can I try?
Thanks,
Amber

    Hello Amber,

We're sorry for the trouble you had with Adobe Reader, please reboot the machine once and then try running the Adobe Reader as 'Run as administrator', you may refer to the following Adobe article for the steps Run an Adobe program as administrator | Windows 7, Vista

If the issue persists, run Adobe Reader in compatibility mode, look for the Adobe Reader's shortcut>Right Click>Properties>Compatibility>compatibility Mode>select the box which says 'Run this program in compatibility mode for select Windows7/8'>click on Apply>OK.

What is the current version of Adobe Reader installed? To identify refer to Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC

What is the version of the OS installed? Is any security software installed? Is it a personal computer or an office computer?
