Adobe Reader DC Crashing

Adobe keeps crashing when I 'free-hand' highlight documents. I can recreate the problem when I use the 'free-hand' highlighter and after about 15 or so overlapping highlights it freezes. There is never an error message and it locks up my entire computer until I stop the program in my task manager. Sometimes it just closes itself. I have recreated the crash with different documents on different computers before and after reinstalling Adobe Reader DC. Both computers are up to date with their windows updates. I have not installed any new software recently and windows defender and malwarebytes come up clean. I've been using Adobe Reader DC on these computers error free for several years so I am assuming it is an error on Adobe's end with a recent update? Can anyone else recreate this problem? Is there something I missed?

Thank you in advance!

Hi ,

Sorry for the issue that you are facing while using Adobe Acrobat Reader.

I would request you to kindly share the Crash dumps when Reader Crashes for you.

Here is how you can collect the crash dump :

When Reader Crashes (If you get this error message "Adobe Reader has stopped working") , Can you please share with us the Crash Logs .

For Getting the Crash Logs:

a.      When Acrobat Reader Crashes , Open Windows Task Manager

b.      -> Got To Processes, There you can see a process "Adobe Acrobat Reader DC" / AcroRd32.exe

c.      Right Click on this process and click "Create Dump File"

d.      Dump file will be created in the Temp folder of user (as specified on the dialog you get after creating dump files).

e.      Save this DMP file on any Cloud Storage and Share the link for that with us on mail at ajain@adobe.com

We will try to analyze your issue on priority once you share this information with us.

Thanks,

Ayush Jain

What version of Acrobat Reader DC? Operating System including version number. Many crashes involve drivers. Knowing your computer and possibly your graphics chip might help. Have you recently changed the display resolution on your monitor? Does the computer crash if run in safe mode?
