Does Adobe Reader DC have downgrade rights to Reader X. I have the media but want to make sure I can use it under the DC EULA.

If the agreement mentions a version and does not grant other rights in the agreement then that is the only right granted. Or so it seems to me.

Oh, one more thing: if you are installing on behalf of others, consult the terms of your Reader Redistribution License. This has certainly at time had very strict rules about whether old software may be installed once new software is available.

    Thanks....

We are using Reader (free software) and have signed up to an enterprise distribution agreement but it is for Reader DC as no other agreement is available. It does not explicitly say that we have downgrade rights, however, neither does it say we can only use DC. Whilst we know that Reader X is EOL, we need to use that version as we have a number of constraints that currently will not allow us to use DC. We have the media, so can we use it under the DC agreement or do we HAVE to go to DC?

Just to add. I believe a downgrade used to be allowed as Adobe provided the ability to downgrade on their website. As X and XI are EOL, this has been removed but does not infer that you do not still have the rights to use earlier versions if you have the media.

Reader has no rights at all of this kind. It is free software, so you are free to use other versions.

    1. If you PAID for something it isn't Reader. Please let us know so we can give you accurate info, exactly what you paid for. I suspect you do have something else since Reader also hasn't had any media since version 2.0 some twenty years ago.

    2. Reader X, XI and older are end-of-life. They contain known unfixed security bugs, and so I cannot recommend using them, even if they are nicer.
