Adobe Reader DC never completes installation of its updates

I have attempted on five separate occasions over the past two days to download and install any and all updates to Adobe Reader DC with no success.

I receive the message "checking for updates" each time.

The "checking for updates" status bar never advances.

Is there something I can do to force the system to complete the Adobe Reader DC updates?

I don't know why your updates fail, but you can manually install them. You can get downloads from downloads.adobe.com/product.jsp?platform=windows&product=10 if you are on Windows.

Currently, that's 2019.008.20081. Under that choose the SECOND one, the one which doesn't say "MUI".
