I have been trying to re-install Adobe reader DC after a computer re-fresh with no success.  Message received is "a newer version already exists". I do not see this on my system. I am running windows 8.1.

    Akanchha:

I had done as per your last suggestion to re-boot computer after Windows Run dialogue box with "net user administrator/active:yes" appeared. I don't remember if I had done this (re-boot) on  previous attempts. However, on re-boot the login screen with "Admin" username did not appear as suggested.

Adobe Reader software was immediately installed on the re-boot with no further actions by myself.

Thanks again and I hope this helps you better understand  the issue.

    Tony

    Hey Tonyc,

As suggested, use cleaner tool to remove the application. If that doesn't help or you are still not able to install Adobe Reader DC, then refer to the troubleshooting steps suggested in the help article where various error message and cause are mentioned:

Error 1722 while installing/updating Acrobat DC/Acrobat Reader DC on Windows

    Thanks,

    Hi Tonyc,

Sorry for the delay in response to your last message.

Please share the OS you are working on? Also, have you tried the Solution 3 given in the help article shared above?

Additional: For testing, create a Hidden Administrator account following the steps mentioned below, and try installing the Adobe Reader in that.

Create a "Hidden Administrator" user account following the steps shared below and launch the application in that.

1-Hold the Windows Key while pressing “R” to bring up the Windows Run dialog box.

    2-Type: net user administrator /active:yes

    3-Press “Enter“.

Replace “yes” with “no” to disable the admin account on the welcome screen.

    Thanks,

    Akanchha
