Adobe Reader failing to open PDFs even after being set as default, Acrobat opening instead

Hi,

One of our work computers has an issue that we have not dealt with before. Namely, every time the user tries to open a PDF it tries with Acrobat, not Reader. We have set Reader as default in the Windows 10 settings but it has not solved the issue. Has anyone else experienced this and know of a fix?

Thanks,

Tim

Hi Tim,

As per the description given above, that Adobe Reader isn't setting up as default PDF viewer and its keep reverting to Acrobat DC. We suggest you to try the steps suggested in the help article below and see if that brings those changes-

 https://helpx.adobe.com/in/acrobat/kb/not-default-pdf-owner-windows10.html

You may try the another step by selecting any of pdf>right click>open with>choose Adobe Reader>select "use this app to open all .pdf files">OK . Your system might require a restart to apply the changes.

Thanks,

Akanchha
