Adobe Reader Freezing on Mac

Question

Every time I download and open a PDF, Adobe Reader totally freezes with nothing but a spinning ball. I deleted Adobe (even though it was up to date) and re-downloaded it, only to have the same issue. It is Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (Version 17.012.20093) on Mac OS X El Capitan 10.11.6. Any recommendations?

We apologize for the delay in response to your query and thank you for sharing the troubleshooting steps you followed.

As you have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the application and it didn't help. Then you may try resetting the preferences of the Acrobat Reader and see if that helps.

How to reset Acrobat Preference settings to default.

Let us know if it still doesn't help.
