Question

Adobe Reader has no updater - Is this a hack?

It shows Version 20.18.009.20044

Adobe Reader stopped working for a minute, so I restarted Windows 7. I now have an install that is dated 11/15/17. In Edit>Preferences, there is no option called Updater. Is this a hack or is this normal?

If no option, what is latest version to which I can downgrade that allows Update Control?

Thanks.

Hello DG,

Sorry for the delay in response to your query and apologize for the inconvenience caused. The Adobe Acrobat Reader DC is set up for continuous updating.

You can modify those settings via the Adobe Customization Wizard DC or the Windows Registry

For the Windows Registry setting look here: Windows Updates Link: http://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/PrefRef/Windows/Updater-Win.html?zoom_highlight=updates#idkeyname_1_20396

Hope this helps, and let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Anand Sri.

Hello Dg,

We apologize for the inconvinience caused, as per the description above, you want to install the latest version of Adobe Reader, Is that correct?

The latest version of Adobe Reader which is a planned update and was released on November 14, 2017,  is Version 2018.009.20044. Use the following URL to download and install the Reader Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution Link: https://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

Hope this helps, and let us know if you need more assistance.

Hi, Anand.

No that is not correct. I do not want auto update on my software.

I want to know why my Adobe Reader stopped working for one minute, and

then I had Ver 20.18.009.20044 installed.

2) I downloaded a version on 9/20/17. Did this version contain a version

that had automatic update as default?

3) I want to know the latest version I can download where I do not have

to go into the Windows Registry to manipulate the settings to turn off

Auto Update.

4) I want to disable the auto update on Ver 20. 18.009.20044. Do I just

have to change the value on the registry key from "DEFAULT" to "0"?

I hope this is clear.

Thanks.
