Adobe reader issue since Aug 2024 instal?

anytime i try to open any pdf to read it, i get a window pop-up message stating I must buy adobe pdf or try it for free. When I click no, or the X to close out the window, ithe program automatically closes the pdf i'm trying to read! I've uninstalled/reinstalled pdf reader, but to no avail. I've tried every trick in the book to override the program but nothing works. Please help because I have a ton of pdf's i must read for work and I dont have access!

I hope you’re doing well. We’re sorry for the trouble you’re experiencing with the app.

Please try the following steps:

Restart the app and your machine.
Use the Acrobat Cleaner tool to perform a clean uninstallation of the app and remove the licensing file causing the issue: https://adobe.ly/47F1dUN
Restart your machine again.
Download Acrobat Reader from this URL https://adobe.ly/3zzRUZQ, and sign in with your Adobe ID (email).
