Question

Adobe Reader pdf embedded buttons not working?

I was emailed a pdf to fill out and submit for a job application. When trying to download and open it, it indicated that I would need to install the latest adobe acrobat reader to view it, and so I did. It opened fine and I was able to fill it out, but there is a problem - some of the buttons in the pdf do not work.

Specifically, the "add attachment" and "submit" buttons (the most important ones!). They just flash yellow once when I click them, and nothing happens.

Is this a problem on my end, or theirs?

I am using the latest version of adobe acrobat reader dc, on a macbook running OS X El Capitan (version 10.11.6).

    Hi Trnsatlanticism,

We are sorry for not being able to response to your query on time and thanks for sharing the detailed information.

If we understand the issue correctly, you are experiencing trouble filling a specific form which was emailed to you? Or is this a behavior of all the forms that you are trying to fill or using "Submit" button?

This might or might not be a form specific problem. If we check the same at our end then it would be easier for us to understand the root-cause of the problem.

"You can share the file with us via email. And you can send it to the email that is shared via private message. Please do mention your forum thread in the subject"

In mean while, you may try the following steps-

    • Make sure you have downloaded the form and have it saved locally on your computer.
    • Check whether you have the latest patch for Adobe Reader installed or not. Open Reader>Help>Check for update.
    • You may check the form's properties once. Open PDF>right click Documents Properties and see if there is any restriction.

    Regards,

    Akanchha
