What does the expiry date "Valid to: ..." imply for a certificate? If I understood correctly, the digital ID can no longer be used for signing, but what happens after expiration date, is the signature readable, and can it be validated?
Is there any documentation on that?
Thank you in advance for any help on the topic.

Self-signed digital IDs expire in five years. After the expiration date, you can use the ID to open, but not sign or encrypt, a document. In Acrobat, click the Edit menu and choose Preferences > Signatures.
You can check for further information from the given article:
https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/digital-ids.html
under the section: Change the password and timeout for a digital ID.
Hope this clarifies the description.
