Was there ever a version of Adobe Reader (free version) that allowed users to print to a PDF printer?

According to the answer in the following discussion, you cannot "create" PDFs with Adobe Reader.

Can Adobe Reader Print to PDF?

If there was the ability to print to PDF with the free version, at what version did that change?

That option has never been available in the free Reader. It comes with the full, paid-for version of Adobe Acrobat.

That is what I've been telling an executive.  Wanted to do a sanity check.

There's a chance that they had some other third party pdf printer or that they had the full version of Acrobat and are confusing that with the free Acrobat Reader (the name confuses some).
