Adobe Reader XI crashes and won't print

So I am running 64bit Win 7 Pro on a Dell 3510, Adobe Reader XI.  Came with the machine from Dell.

A few days ago, ADOBE DC "auto-updated", and its been progressively worse since.

1.  Will no longer print at all.  I get that stupid message about "no pages selected".  Tried MANY of the on-line suggestions, no help.

2.  Frequently crashes, locks up, or won't save.  Items not saved usually recover well (only a few work steps lost) when I shut down (using Task Manager).

I think I would like to try to re-install, maybe, but don't have the serial #.  How can I drag the serial # out of this machine?

Also, I was wondering who out there has struggled through this, and what cures you have found.

Does DC work better?  Should I punt and go to bluebeam?

    Hi leslier24419204,

Could you please try following troubleshooting steps?

1- Run as administrator-  locate Reader DC shortcut on the desktop>right click>select Run as administrator, then try printing and see if that works.

2- Print as image- open the pdf file in Reader>click Advanced>check the box "Print As Image">then click OK and print.

3- If that doesn't work, try disabling Protected Mode- under Reader>click Edit>Preferences>Security(Enhanced)

Uncheck the box Enable Protected Mode at startup and click OK.

Please note: Disabling Protected Mode is for troubleshooting purpose only, please turn the feature back on after troubleshooting is complete.

4- If step 3 doesn't work, try repairing Reader by clicking on "Repair Adobe Reader Installation" under Help menu in Reader.

I would like to mention that Reader doesn't require a serial number. You can install Reader from the following link:

Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution

Please confirm the dot version of Reader XI installed on the machine.

To do that, click About Adobe Reader XI under Help menu.

Have you tried printing from other applications like Notepad/MS Word?

    Awaiting your response.
