Question

All my older PDFs have error: file damaged

I ams o frustrated. I save a lot of documents from web or print as PDF and save to separate disks (not hard disk) with my computer.  ALL of them come up with error as damaged or invalid.  I have used two "recovery" software programs.  One failed miserably, the other gave me a "root object" missing error.

WTF is going on that all my PDFs are inaccessible.  Is it my security stuff (AVAST)?

I have lost so much important info.

When I look at the PDFs they are only 32KB or 64KB in size.

Is there any other solution other than trying all the recovery programs out there?

J

What can you see when you open the file in a text editor, like Notepad?

First of all, clarify, how you're creating PDFs from websites: Acrobat Reader can't do this, so you either using Acrobat Pro or any 3rd party solution for this, such as the browser itself. Depending on your "how to", you're will have to ask again the in the correct forums.

Um sorry. to clarify, I downloaded such things as statements and invoices
from web to save onto my disks. They pop up in reader then I do ‘save as’
to a file name that suits me.

Other I create in MS word and print as ‘PDF’. Other documents I scan with
printer software and save as PDF.
