Application Hang- Opens & Closes Slowly

Hello All,

After installing the newest version of acrobat reader on our new windows 10 machines we have had allot of issues with the software being slow and unresponsive.

After launching acrobat reader the cursor spins intermittently as the program partially loads. Each time the loading cursor shows a new event is generated in event viewer for the following: Faulting application name: AcroRd32.exe, version: 18.11.20040.19174, time stamp: 0x5af4c57cFaulting module name: KERNELBASE.dll, version: 10.0.17134.1.

After a minuet adobe opens OK but navigating to anything or opening pdf document takes a long time. Even closing acrobat reader can take more than 60 seconds.

This is happening on only new PC's with the latest windows 10 build 1803 and is inconsistent-  Sometimes after a restart acrobat reader opens normally and works for half a day before slowing down and generating the errors.

If anyone has seen similar issues on new machines any tips would be much appreciated.

Regards

David

Hello David,

We're sorry for the trouble you had with Adobe Reader DC, please try repairing Adobe Reader's installation files and reboot the machine, repair Adobe Reader from help>repair installation.

Reset the Adobe Reader's Preferences once, to reset the Preferences, refer to the steps mentioned in Adobe article How to reset Acrobat Preference settings to default.

Also, navigate to Edit>Preferences>Security(enhanced)>uncheck 'Enable Enhanced Security'. If the issue persists, please use Acrobat cleaner tool to remove Adobe Reader, reboot the machine Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

Then install the latest version of Adobe Reader from Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution

If you still experience any issue, please create a test user profile with full admin rights and try with Adobe Reader.

Let us know how it goes and share your findings.

Regards,

Anand Sri.
