ArialMT font issue in Reader DC but not Pro.

Hello,

I'm having an issue with random PDF's in Adobe Reader DC (not generated by me), where I will receive a message about ArialMT font cannot be found or created. Colleagues that are also on Adobe Reader DC do NOT receive this message with the same PDF's.

We have uninstalled and re-installed Reader using the Adobe removal tool, didn't make a difference.

We have installed the ArialMT font, no change.

We reinstalled Windows 10 x64 along with Reader, and still the same issue.

As a troubleshooting step, we signed up for the trial of Adobe Acrobat Pro, and the issue no longer occurs.

I do not need the features of Pro, I only need to be able to view and save PDF's, so Reader will work fine. Adobe Support has stated that they cannot assist to determine why Acrobat Pro works fine, but Reader DC will not.

I have tried pretty much every solution that forums have to offer, but none work.

The solution should not be having to pay $16/month for Pro.

Please advise.

    Hi Timothyd,

    Apologies for the delay in response, I hope you would be able to fix it by now.

    If the problem still persists, we need some more information for a better understanding:

    • What is the application version you are using? To check the version you may please refer to the link - Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC
    • What is the OS/Version?
    • Is this a behavior with a particular file or with any file you try to open?
    • Is the file locally available on your computer or is it on shared drive/Cloud?

    In the meantime, you may try the following steps:

    • Please try to update the application to the latest version. Go to Help > Check for Updates. To know more about the latest version available please refer to the link  - DC Release Notes — Release Notes for Acrobat DC Products
    • Repair installation. Go to Help > Repair Installation (only for windows)
    • Reboot the application and check.
