Arrow markup tool problem

Recently when I try to use the arrow markup tool it doesn't work.  I can select it and use it on my page but when I release the my mouse click the arrow fades to very light image of an arrow.  Can barely see it like it is in the background.  Also is red the only color that can be used for the arrow tool?

    Left-click on the arrow to select it, then right-click and choose properties. Under the appearance tab, you should see options to fix that. Once you have the options you want, select the "Make properties default" box then click "OK".
