How do I find the option to change the Auto-update to Manual, in Acrobat Reader DC?

Really fed-up with having to re-start PC at inconvenient times!!

    Hello John!

    Adobe Acrobat Reader DC is set up for automatic updates by default. It does not provide any UI option in the preferences to control this setting.

    You may use the Adobe Customization Wizard DC or the Windows Registry settings to control the update settings.

    No, the option is still in Acrobat. It’s no longer in the free Acrobat Reader.

    Sorry to be a Negative Nancy about this, but how many of us use the free version vs the paid version?  Now we have to pay to have the privilege of managing updates, or go the risky route of editing the registry.  This all seems incredibly short sighted on Adobe's part. Especially with more browsers natively supporting PDF viewing and other free PDF viewing apps coming to market --such as Foxit and Sumatra.

    User Experience can make or break an app. Not everyone likes their CPU hijacked to install an update at an inopportune time.  That's what happened to me today and brought me to the forum to find out how to control when the updates occur.  Everyone attending my presentation had to wait for the update to finish and I got my CPU back.  I felt less sheepish when most everyone in the room griped about the same thing happening to them.  

    It saddens me, but I stand by my fix to the problem:  uninstall Acrobat Reader.

    You don't have to restart the PC with Reader's automatic updates. It just tells you the update has started and that if you reboot the update will complete.

    Adobe took away the Preference option to adjust how updates are handled?  Sounds like the best way to turn off auto updates now is to uninstall Acrobat.  There are lots of other readers out there.
