Black box mouse curser

I have Windows 8

When I use Adobe Acrobat Reader to view a Pdf file, the mouse curser is now a black box. This has only been happening during the past month.

I have tried the following to fix it:

1. go to the local appdata folder.

C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Adobe\Acrobat\DC

2 remove the following file in the local appdata folder-

IconCacheRdr.dat, in the case of CD player

IconCacheAcro.dat, in the case of Acrobat DC

3. launch Reader/Acrobat

All I see is:

C:\Users\\GregPerry\AppData\Local\HewlettPackard

There is no Adobe\Acrobat\DC

How do I delete a file if I cannot access the folder I cannot see?
