Bloated PDF File size with Acrobat Reader DC?

We have had to discontinue the use of Acrobat Reader DC and revert to an older version here at our hospital system.

Unfortunately, Acrobat Reader DC creates *.pdf files that are 20 times the size of those created under prior versions.  This makes it impossible to attach all but a few pages of printed material to an e-mail that you would send to a colleague.  Most Corporate e-mail systems have a limit on the amount (size) of attachments to a single e-mail.   As an experiment, pages printed to a pdf file in 2016 was 116kb in size.  But the same pages printed under Adobe Acrobat DC was 2,519kb.

Is there any available Setting that would exlpain or control these very large file sizes?  Thanks for your input.
