Booklet printing problems

I have been using Adobe Reader for many years to print out sheet music.  My printing is typically a spurt of activity, and then several months, and then more printing.  I mention this because I am not certain when the last time I have printed out some sheet music, but it was working fine at that time.

Today I tried to print out some sheet music in booklet form.  I have an Epson printer that handles 11 x 17 paper, so I print out my music in booklet form, on 11 x 17 paper.  When I attempt to print music that exceeds 4 pages, I get the first leaf just fine.  (The first physical sheet of 11 x 17 paper would be printed 2-up, double-sided.  It would have the first & second pages, and the second-to-last & the last pages.)  Then I get one additional sheet of blank 11 x 17 paper "printed" out.

I can't print out a booklet.

For a 5 - 8 page document, I can get the second page by specifying all the pages (which gives me the first physical sheet of 11 x 17 paper properly printed.  For example, I would first print a booklet specifying pages 1-8.  After that prints (I recycle the blank sheet), I start a new print job specifying pages 3-6.  That will also print properly, and when I put the two sheets of 11 x 17 paper together, I have a properly paginated booklet.

However, that work-around does not work with larger documents.

I don't know why, after all these years of using the same machine and O/S (Windows 7 Pro), Adobe no longer prints booklets properly.

My current printer is the second Epson WorkForce printer I have had, and both the first and second have worked with Adobe properly for years.

It's just that Adobe is suddenly no longer working in booklet mode for me.

Is there any way I can identify what is wrong, and then fix it?

Thank you.
