Question

Can older versions of Acrobat Reader import images in editable (form) pdf?

I just need to know: I've created a pdf form that includes editable text and the ability for the end-user/client to also add a placed image. Does this feature just not work on older versions of reader? I created it with Acrobat DC.

Thanks,

An excellent question. I thought image fields were designed to be backwards compatible but perhaps not. There might be something in the JavaScript log.

This was a brand new feature of Reader, just a month or two ago. Older versions can use images only in PDF format.

Thank you for the clarification. However, if you can fill in just one other gap for me in my knowledge, when I test the pdf on a PC with an older version of Acrobat Reader, the image field I've created does nothing at all. The user is not prompted to place anything at all, even if it is just a pdf. Is that a versioning issue perhaps?
