Can't edit form that have been filling out for past 2 days

Hi - I am applying for university course. The form states that it should be filled out on Acrobat Reader so that it can be signed electronically. I downloaded the free software yesterday. All has been working fine and the form is now nearly completed. I returned to make some final changes this morning and cannot edit the document.
