Hi,

The link below is a manual instruction to make Adobe Reader DC, default PDF viewer.

https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/not-default-pdf-owner-windows10.html

This could be a good solution for home users but not corporate environments.

I see that the issue has also been raised at the following links;

Re: PDF files open in Microsoft Edge (E PDF) and not Adobe

Adobe Reader DC default for Windows 10.

I have tested various methods (registries, imports of AdobeReaderDC.XML by means of DISM, etc) but unfortunately this is not a solution.

The methods in the following links offer no solution;

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/manufacture/desktop/export-or-import-default-application-associations

https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/AdminGuide/pdfviewer.html

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/ie11-deploy-guide/set-the-default-browser-using-group-policy

http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/edge-hijack-pdf-htm-associations/

https://www.winability.com/how-to-stop-microsoft-edge-from-hijacking-pdf-files/

Is there a solution to make Adobe Reader DC default PDF viewer through a scipt?

My test scope:

  • Windows 1703 and later
  • Adobe Reader DC 18.011.20035
  • Adobe Reader DC 18.011.20040 (last version)
