Can't open adobe reader - Mac

Hello there,

I'm having trouble opening Abode Reader. It simply crashes straight away every time. The thing is, I have done some trouble-shooting and the programme DOES work if I sign in to my computer as a different user. So I was hoping someone could help me make the necessary changes to my user profile so I can get Abode up and running again.

I'm using a MacBook Pro (2017) 13" with Sierra and I have the latest version of Adobe.

Thanks,

Aidan

    Hi Aidan,

Sorry for the delay in response.

Try to uninstall the application from your Mac.

Please refer the steps provided here Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution to completely remove the application from your Mac.

Once done restart your machine and then try to re-install the application from here Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution

Check if you can open the application after re-installing.

Let us know how it goes.

    Regards,

    Meenakshi

    Hi https://forums.adobe.com/people/aidan%20n

As you have mentioned above, you are experiencing the issue with Adobe Reader DC.

As the application crashing every time you open the application, please try the troubleshooting steps provided here Resolve Acrobat DC intermittent crashes on Windows

If that does not help, try resetting the preferences of the application. Take  help from the steps provided here How to reset Acrobat Preference settings to default.

If the issue still persists, please do let us know the following details:

    - Dot version of Adobe Acrobat Reader DC

You may refer the steps provided here Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC to check the dot version.

    - OS version on your Mac Sierra

Let us know how it goes.

    Regards,

    Hi Meenakshi,

    thanks for the reply.

I have tired to follow the trouble-shooting steps in the link you sent, but most of the steps require me to open Abode first which I cannot do. One of the steps asked me to use something called Distiller, but I don't know what that is; another step asked me to send the crash report to Apple which I have done. The final step asked me to try run the programme with a different user; as mentioned I have done this and it works, but I don't know where to go from here because I need adobe to work on my main user profile.

I also attempted to reset the preferences as per the link you included, but I could not find any of the files mentioned. I found some similar ones and follow the instructions as far as I could, but this did not make any difference.

the version I have is Acrobat Reader DC (continuous) 2017.012.20093

    my mac has OS 10.12.6

my suspicion is that abode is working because it works when I log in as a different user; so perhaps there is something in my user profile that is affecting adobe. I have looked at the language settings, but they seem fine. (I have the same language set in both user profiles).

any help would be much appreciated,

    Aidan
